You Victorians should be very worried.

This is NOT about politics - its about your health, the massive unprecedented land grab, and the destruction forever of a huge part of Victoria.

Just look at whats planned !

My sister lives in Maitland - has for decades.
Each time i go there, my jaw hits the ground - the area is becoming a poisoned useless mining wasteland.
What was a beautiful farmland, horse breeding area, vineyards etc - not anymore

I cant stand by and watch it happen again in this beautiful part of Victoria.

Fight Victorians - stand up - do something before its gone in a flash, (its already sold)
Your groundwater will be polluted possibly forever - for quick bucks!!

Check out the map of the area of destruction planned.

My Mum lives in Seaspray. Beautiful spot, the locals are not happy! A lot of promises about environment impact and health have already been broken, from what I hear.

It's not just in victoria - everywhere you go up the coast in N.S.W. there are signs on farmer's gates protesting about CSG.

Good on you guys for spreading the word - shame politicians, shame mining co's shame. [-x

Agree - its astonishingly dumb, poisoning humanities water supply, the veins that run underground holding precious water, killing our farming land just when we know we are facing massive food shortages.

Its astonishing, we are all just blindly going about life, with catastrophic climate change unfolding, poisoning our planet for the last drop of money for oil and gas.

Deeply saddens me how stupid, blind and ignorant we are as a species...We are the vermin!
Anyone that has children should be shuddering. We are slowly murdering them one by one....

So - what new mic's are you guys liking?????

Back to the issues at hand, I was totally gob smacked at the Vic Govts wind farm legislation.... there seems to be a clear agenda that is being followed, including even the deliberate halting of development of promising new industries that offer an ecologically sound alternative. A conservative govt should be pro development of industry but I think they may have been bought by powerful industrial interest groups whose economys are larger than our nations.
Otherwise the situation as it stands just does not make sense. I might add that there are many Liberal members that are alarmed at these goings on.

I'd be surprised if a conservative govt would be in favour of something that reduces the long term income of their cronies X(

Yep - they are all conservatives - there is little difference.
One mob is much more extreme than the other though - no regard for the future of our children when there is a quick $ to be made.

CSG is a perfect example, the average lifespan is 18 months? - then gone, leaving the groundwater polluted forever.

And now the Napthine gov is currently putting out tenders to offshore investors to dig up and sell brown coal on an unprecedented scale - offering them 90 million $ of taxpayers money to do it.
13 billion tonnes of the most emissions-intensive coal.

No wonder Howard got rid of the guns.....

It's astounding, can our "leaders' really be so short sighted?
I'm all for a good conspiracy theory, but I don't think even the Liberal party have interstellar spaceships to escape the doom being created.
We are at a point now where most people are fatigued by the ongoing bullshit, cronyism, land grabbing and self interest of our pollies and and big business'. This seems to have induced a state of permanent suspended disbelief, so when we hear about things like Coal Seem Gas, a lot of us just think "no surprise, here we go again" rather than protesting. I think "they" rely on this more and more.
I have no idea how to fix this.

Most of them will be dead and gone before the real trouble starts i.e. the fight for water and food to survive.

Global warming, mining etc etc are just the symptoms - overpopulation is the cause. The answer is simple but no-one wants to hear it - people need to stop breeding.

Ian - I think we are way past the breeding issue, we sorted it by not even trying.
These issues are sorting out the population issue - unfolding now:

Out of control climate change, rampant disease, new viruses constantly appearing spread by mosquito's, birds, bats, horses, chickens etc, poisoned groundwater, food crises, poisoned oceans, ongoing wars, massive cancer clusters, frightening nuclear accidents unfolding, massive destruction from weather events, severe droughts that go on for decades, continual record breaking floods, poisoned river systems from mining, massive movements of displaced people escaping famine, drought, new wars over water and food etc etc.

http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/japan-s- ... -1.1423249

Paul I dont know what to do either - except help my fellow Australians realize what is coming around the corner, what all the xperts in their particular fields are warning us of.

Remember cyclone Katrina? - it only took a few weeks and people were killing each other for food.
Just imagine something very simple like - no fuel for a month?
This country has 23 days - thats it! Then the uglier side of humanity unfolds!
No food - no medicine - desperation!
google:
Australia's food supply fuel.

There is lots of info suddenly flying around the net about Syria, the chemical weapons all of a sudden being used - and the US economy just happens to be on the verge of going into free fall...(depression)

So, suddenly Assad uses chemical weapons?, everyone is asking why would he when the UN observers just landed in the country.

no-body can make sense of this "proposition"

The US and Israeli are inside Syria as of very recently
- massaging the situation?

The US needs a war - desperately for its economy..

Here is one just for starters :
http://whatreallyhappened.com/category/syria

keep your eyes open gents- something very suspect could be unfolding.
Iran (oil) will become involved - a perfect storm?

Seriously interesting... if it was not so tragic .

With your first post Chris, i thought it a bit alarmist but there is definitletly an increase in comentary indicating the USA is going to act. I read an interesting article on Al Jezera that ties in the Snowden revelations of domestic spying etc as a clear indication deep and fundamental change in the direction America has tacken in the past 10 or so years.
http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinio ... 16625.html

Malcom Frazer's article in todays Age stating the case for Australia to move away from strategic dependence on the USA makes interesting reading also.

Re: WE should be very alarmed!.

Postby The Tasmanian » Mon Aug 26, 2013 5:41 pm

Agree Chris
Not being alarmist at all - there is so many very intelligent analysts and economists all over the globe all pointing to the same set of unfolding financial disasters in the US.
Its everywhere on the net, in many serious publications - no conspiracy theories.

There is a huge set of problems unfolding - most of them because America is more than $70 trillion in debt, even before Obama's health care kicks in - some are saying it could be nearly double that.
The "official" government figure is $16.9 trillion!

Here is just one:
http://investmentwatchblog.com/us-debt- ... nt-claims/

Like the banking collapse that happened before, all of the debts and problems were hidden, this time it is the governments cooking the books and figures.
Whole states are bankrupt, infrastructure is in a perilous state across the US, and the double whammy of massive bushfires, floods, cyclones extending into areas unheard of before & the seasons extending.
Climate change is here to stay, and the timing could not be worse!

Meanwhile the US middle class is hemorrhaging, and the main banks look like they are going to get devalued again, when that happens, it will cause a rush on them, GFC MkII on steriods this time...a depression is on its way.
There is no way out because of the insane debt, and there is no where near enough growth to counteract it!
The US currency is on the brink of losing its status as the default world currency.
Hence the war in Syria.

We wont escape as easy this time - be very thoughtful who you vote for in a few weeks, there is a reason we missed the last one, very timely fast money injection into our economy saved our asses!

Most people will ignore the warnings until its way too late.
History proves this.
I wish it wasnt so - I really do.
Hang on to your seats folks!

No worries Rick,
I hear ya. I get your message (even though its a bit unclear).

You need to pre-warn us about what you deem not appropriate to talk about though - like you have made clear with religion and porn.
I see no warning that you will not allow discussions about finance, economies, political shifts in the world, dangers to industry, financial crises' , market collapses etc etc

The way I see things, is anything that affects the financial viability, and survival of our industry, and the Australian economy is extremely relevant, and all I have posted about the USA will. It will affect all of us financially.
Its a discussion. nothing more.

If I was about to invest in a $250k SSL,build a studio,or take a massive financial risk on any console, or long term lease, and put my life and finances on the line, and future financial return to make something viable - I sure would want to look at poss situations that may affect our economy, our nations unemployment prospects, and also the worlds major economies.

Be fair to us who participate - make some rules, point them out.
Stick by them.

Also Rick - if you look through my post - you will see its 99% about the US economy.
The post is NOT about war.
Syria is just the first of a set of domino's to fall, a byproduct of a collapsing US economy , crippled by debt - Australia is another domino, when they start to fall - we go with them, and our industry will be hammered further into battling to survive.
(Not to mention every other Aus industry)

So lay down the law on what subjects we are not allowed to broach.
If it is different than the headline title description for stuff we "dig" that others would like
Then change it please. I'm unsure because of the enormous breadth of topics we already traverse here.

Hey Chris,

I've been watching from the sidelines, and have been interested at what you and others have posted.

But I just thought your post just before mine came across a bit aggressive.

I'll delete my posts in a bit.
