This is proper science information.
Keep your children FAR away from Wifi.

I had a look at the links and did a bit of chasing around the net.....in cases like this it gets hard to know who is legit as there are claims of legitimacy and counter claims of fraud.
Any way I found reference to the "Potenza Piceno Resolution"
http://www.saferemr.com/2013/04/experts ... about.html

.........and this seems a legitimate source that corroborates the opinions of Barry Trower. This is of direct interest to me as I work at a private girls school that employs the use of wi fi thru out the school so girls from pre prep to year twelve. If their ovaries are indeed being exposed to damage due to wi fi, i'm over just letting these man made environmental health damaging scenarios continue un abated. I studied socio biology when completing my social work degree in the 80's and this was a component of that subject for social workers in hospitals. I'm not about to present my concerns to the school principle just yet as I would like to hear from those more scientifically equipped to critique the link i pasted re the "Potenza Piceno Resolution" and its application to wi fi in the school.

Great link Chris -

If I had a daughter, I would have her read this info, and discuss its more than potential damage to her reproductive system.
And after further investigation that points to the same conclusions, if my daughter went to a school that had Wifi everywhere, I would present this info, to the headmaster, even to the extent of doing it through my lawyer that if anything does eventuate with my child's health, then I would hold them accountable.
I would fight for her future!
If they did not take the wifi out, I would stand outside the school and personally hand out these printed scientific studies to all of the parents dropping their kids at school.

We do not NEED wifi in schools. we never had it before.

Chris - I dont envy your situation being a teacher at a girls school - at all.
What can we do?
This information must get to the parents - and be driven by them.

This deeply concerns me, when we add Fukushima's continuing radiation output into the Pacific Ocean to this, plus climate change, we are wiping our future generations out at an alarming rate.

This info came to me as I am a passionate researcher into bee colony collapses all around the globe, and the consequences for massive starvation due to crop pollination are well understood by scientists.

SIGH....
HELP!

Nice links to magazine articles.

I'll stick with the scientists:

Read all of this scientific info - and then get back to me, hopefully with scientific reports proving that it is completely safe.

Also:
An international scientific conference was held in Potenza Picena, Italy on April 20, 2013. The meeting was organized by the International Commission on Electromagnetic Safety (http://www.icems.eu). At the conclusion of the meeting, the twelve experts adopted two resolutions based upon the precautionary principle.

The scientists presented research which found that microwave radiation harms humans and other species.

The experts reached the following conclusions:

Radar that uses pulsed radiofrequency (RF) causes biological effects more invasive than non-pulsed EMF;
RF can cause structural changes in enzymes in nanoseconds, while pulsed RF emitted by radar occurs every milliseconds which suggests that for every pulsing event several enzymatic changes occur;
the pulsed signals can induce significant modifications in DNA regulation due to methylation of the genome;
the scientific literature concludes that biological/health effects can occur at low intensity exposure, and chronic exposure can make a living organism more susceptible to EMF effects;
ICEMS monograph (Eur. J. Oncol., 2010) concludes there are nonthermal mechanisms of action of EMF (including RF) on living matter;
experiments on cells cultured in residential areas of Potenza Picena showed that radar activates apoptosis for short exposures;
preliminary results from animal experiments show that RF is a co-carcinogenic agent;
RF induces oxidative stress in tissues and living organisms;
epidemiologic studies find significant health risks for people exposed to pulsed RF; more research is needed especially regarding pulsed RF;
and the scientific literature suggests that the precautionary principle should be applied to EMF internationally.

Thus, stricter safety standards for EMF need to be adopted by governments and public health agencies because the existing standards are obsolete and are not based on the recent literature about biological effects.

According to the precautionary principle, sources of RF should be reduced to be as low as possible because it is impossible at this time to establish a safe limit under which no biological effects can be observed.

RF sources should be kept far from residential areas. For pulsed RF sources, such as radar and Wi-Max antennas, the distance from the source should be even greater because they cause more biologic effects than non-pulsed signals.

Wi-Fi should not be placed in schools and in public areas since it employs pulsed signals.

The precautionary principle suggests the need for special precaution with younger people and with those susceptible to EMF effects, such as those with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity, a condition found to be increasing in modern societies that makes people sick from EMF exposure even at low intensity.

The Council of Europe, the German Government, Israeli Parliament, Austrian Medical Associations, Russian National Committee for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, The American Academy of Environmental Medicine, The International Society of Doctors for the Environment and The Irish Doctors Environmental Association have recommended that schools use wired computer networks, not wireless.

The International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety and Scientific Panel on Electromagnetic Health Risks strongly recommend limiting the use of wireless technologies by young people.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified radiofrequency radiation as a possible human carcinogen.

Chris, this is some seriously scary info. I've often wondered about the side effects of or wifi'd world, but only found conspiracy theories. I'll be passing these links onto friends with kids

Agree Mitch - I'm really concerned
Wifi is a new technology that immerses us in its signal 24-7.
That info about DNA damage in kids (and animals) scares the shit out of me.
The mice that have a small break in the top of their skulls getting huge damage, because of the thinness of the bones - just like kids.
The wifi in schools website has astonishing set of collected science studies and info that cannot be ignored.
I'm not into conspiracies at all - much better things to do with my life.
But when i read all of these scientists, from different studies all over the world, all pointing to the same set of dangerous outcomes and conclusions - I shudder.

Business will always look after their profits.
Who cares about the kids - when you can make a quick buck - just like tobacco, & oil companies etc.
Its happened many times before...

Just like asbestos: the corps and gov new how dangerous it was but still mined the hell out of it and its still all over Oz - killed my grandad in fact.

Yep - and mining asbestos like crazy now in India, pretending it is safe, when they know it is not.
TV doco's showing kids playing in raw piles of asbestos. Workers with no protection.
Every time the wind blows, huge white clouds go through the towns.

And here we are as a supposed intelligent? species trying our utmost to discredit the science of climate change, the Fukushima unfolding radiation disaster, and now this alarming info on DNA damage etc from wifi.

No doubt about it, we are vermin.

This does not surprise me. I work with RF more than most and have a "Healthy respect " for the effects of RF and other EMR. , I wouldn't live under HT power lines, near transformers or switch yards either.
The operating frequency of most microwave ovens is 2.450 GHz, very close to Wi-Fi B,G hence why your WiFi goes a bit funny when the microwave is running. There is also a lot of RF in the same band given off by Compact Fluorescent energy saver globes.Just watch your WiFi signal strength and quality when you are in a room with CF globes ,then turn them off and see the improvement.
2.450 GHz is related to the wavelength or rather bond length of hydrogen to oxygen in a water molecule hence when you excite a water molecule and cause it to rotate heat is created.That's the whole idea of microwave ovens.
So yes ,WiFi at 2.45 GHz will sort of cook you (slowly). Maybe it's below accepted danger levels,but it can't be good ,for you.
Nor for that matter are mobile phones. A few hundred milliwatts of 900mhz rf a few millimeters from your brain.We'll look back at this in a generation or 2 and say "what were they thinking"
So many devices these days produce rf at microwave frequencies. It really is scary.
As for Asbestos, that was a contributing factor to my old man ending up in a box and as said above ,we all thought it was safe.

Thanks Alistair -
that is incredibly easy to understand info, you explain things so well.(as always)
The heating of water molecule / becoming a microwave oven is the simplest way Ive found to understand this so far.

Awesome info!
Thank you.

And then there is this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Denial_System
Make no mistake, radio waves are radiation and are DANGEROUS!
Our western cities are saturated with them, all over the spectrum, all over the place.
My father used to work at the Electricity Commission in NSW as a Microwave transmission technician.
He installed a healthy fear and appreciation into me

Google "eye damage from cellular phones" if you want to read some scary research.

http://www.isracast.com/article.aspx?id=57

1. Exposing the lens for a prolonged time to microwave radiation (in the frequency and intensity described above) caused macroscopic damage affecting the optical quality of the lens. This damage increased as the experiment and irradiation continued and reached a maximum level after a number of days. When the exposure stopped the optical damage began to heal gradually. Interestingly enough, a similar maximum level was observed when the irradiation intensity was reduced to one-half the original, except that it took twice the time.

2. On the microscopic level a different kind of damage occurred. Tiny "bubbles" were created on the surface of the lens. The bubbles were formed by irradiation with microwave and were not the result of a heat created throughout the lens. The researchers have speculated that the mechanism responsible for the creation of the bubbles is microscopic friction between particular cells exposed to electromagnetic radiation. Contrary to the macroscopic damage, the microscopic damage did not show any signs of healing and continued to accumulate during the course of the experiment.

Interesting report, thanks Alastair.
So, they pull up a bit short of saying it's physical, and almost say it's psychosomatic, but that it is still a legitimate case for compensation under the law.
On a side note, my understanding of microwave transmission is that it is really only useful for line of sight applications, how does Wi Fi use it? If Wi Fi was line of sight only, it would be pretty useless, right?
Cheers,
