Re: Wireless Electricity
Yep,EMR .
You won't catch me near anything like that.
Take a look at the studies done into people that live under HT power lines and the increase in cancer and other strange symptoms.
Our bodies are not designed to live in high EM fields.
WiFi in laptops and portable devices are bad enough ,not to mention the rf emitted from new LED lighting.
That's actually causing all sorts of interference in Digital TV reception and the FCC and ACMA are investigating.
All for the quest of loosing a piece of wire.
Think about the level of EM field required to power a toaster .That will cook your gonads.
Next rant please.....

Re: Wireless Electricity
This just sounds scary to me, I'm with Alistair.
Alistair, can you tell me more about LED lighting and RF?
Cheers,
Paul Maybury

Re: Wireless Electricity
Me too Paul ... Alastair..
LED bulbs RF? I had no idea - so what about LED screens?
-> geez, I was hoping to move over to LED lighting soon, as now they seem to be being made well, and becoming more cost efficient ...

Re: Wireless Electricity
Ditto to above Alastair - interested to hear more about LEDs - my desk lights are LED architect lights (face away from you) but they don't generate noise.
Worse perhaps are fluoros - filled with mercury vapour and audibly noisy - can't stand that squeal.

Re: Wireless Electricity
There's a lot of discussion on the interweb ,Google "led rf noise" or "led FCC" .
A really interesting case is the Ernst &Young building in California that had a heap of LED lighting fitted and was putting out so much crud that it was taking out the cell phone network.Big fines if they don't rectify it.what causes it is the miniature switch mode power supplies running at about 600 MHz inside each bulb.Similar to the FCC, ACMA is looking into it along with Freetv .There are some good demos on YouTube of what they do to digital TV reception.

Re: Wireless Electricity
I have good 'ol incandescents in 95% of sockets throughout my place and stocks to last many years. Lighting is only a fraction of my energy consumption. They are cheap, simple, nontoxic and easily recyclable .... everything that CFLs and LEDs aren't... and the tone is much nicer. I have to turn of the couple of CFLs I do have in the workshop when I do any extreme noise floor testing on the bench unless the unit under test has good shielding due to the HF EM they radiate.
