Synth repair shop re-opening

Postby Thirteen » Thu Jun 26, 2014 11:33 pm

Just a heads up, in the later part of next month (July 2014) I will be re-opening my synthesizer repair workshop. Initially it will operate for three days a week, then full time from later in August. I am finally able to get back into synthesizer servicing full time after having been busy with my other business, I have been upgrading test equipment and installing new benches in preparation. As always I will focus on vintage synth repairs as my core business but I will also service some current generation machines, I am having a new website designed and I will publish a list of brands on the new site once it is up.

oh man, that is the best damn news I've heard in a long time. :)

I've got an Oddysey here that is in dire need of some expertise.

It's a Mk1, with a couple of mods - typical cemented sliders, tantalum issues etc etc.

In fact I've got soo many synths that could use some love, I'll be sorting all my stuff out soonish so would be good to have them looked at by a pro.

Good luck Steve.

I've sold all my other gear in favour of Eurorack but I've still got a Moogerfooger delay I dream of converting to 5U if I can talk someone like you into doing it...

The electronic conversion would be straightforward, milling and printing the face plate is the main challenge.

Hey Steve,

Long time no speak, awesome news that you are getting back into the synth repairs, if only you were in Melbourne.

:(

I have both a Roland D70 and JD800 that are in excellent nick except the keyboard contacts are both knackered from lack of use over the years. I have tried cleaning the contacts myself years back, but that didn't hold up for too long.

I have brand new keyboard assemblies for both that I purchased from Roland, ready to go in, and I could probably do the JD800 easy enough, but would rather someone with the technical back ground to slot them in.

I'll give you a yell when you are up and running, I may still ship them to you.

Thanks Rob, I have been getting so many calls about repairs that I decided that it's time to get back into it. I do miss the workshop!

Lindsay I would say that it would need a custom PSU built, I have never seen any Expander power supply boards up for sale anywhere.

yeah, I guess that to be the case. I am gently egging my friends in that direction..hint hint Futureman. Although a new child doesn't help the cause.

Hi Steve, where abouts in Marrickville are you? I have a friend that wants to drop off a synth to you to look at. I think it's a power supply problem. cheers Kerry
