Gents and Lady - anyone done / doing this?

I'm thinking an iPhone with external mic down near the exhaust outlet - probably need some windshielding....

I once recorded a hot rodded Customline with an EV 635a. I used a windsock. Sounded right! The Ev will handle anything.

I recorded a 1959 Tank Fairlane hearse doing a burnout with a Neumann U77 into a Revox B77.

Here's the actual hearse...

Sussed out the acoustics in the rear but decided they we're a bit 'dead'. /:)

How about whilst riding? It's a bit hard to strap a Revox to the back of the bike =)) ....

I'm gonna try the iPhone (because I've got one...) - has anyone tried any of the external iPhone mics that are around now?

I use the Rode mic for the iPhone 4 and have found the rode software fairly flukey to begin with. More stable now.

Recordings are great as in useable.
