I've just found that same rack at awave for $699. I'd want two of them, so looking for something a bit cheaper if it's out there.

You could probably knock something up in SketchUp and have it made for less than that. I'm getting a relatively involved full studio desk made for under 2k at the moment from a custom joinery shop in Gosford. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone to do it down there.

Home made doesn't cost a lot of cash - more in time tho.
I'm finishing off the desk attached, made from a table top found on the side of the road and a couple of lengths of unfinished 4 b 2 from Bunnings.
It's cost less than $150 so far including rack strip, paint & fabric for the arm rest. Like me, it's nothing clever, just tech screws n glue.
