Crash Symphony - the supposed 'Best Studio in Sydney'

Postby Linear » Mon Sep 07, 2015 6:38 pm

But obviously not good enough to use photos of their own actual studio in advertising material - no, they have to lift photos from another studio website (mine)

IMG_5645.jpg

i have been wondering if this is the same studio that manning mentioned trying to steal clients? would love to know.

i checked out their website - the 'actual' crash symphony studio looks like a fairly ordinary home studio, not to mention the borderline-deceitful bait-n-switch sales pitch drivel that pervades it.

i mean, if you were going to do something as stupid as passing off another studio as your own, why would you choose one that operates in the same city? Am I missing something here?

Jaysus.

Do they not think that a potential client might notice the lack of correspondence between the pictured control room and their own (assuming they actually have one?)

(And for the record, not the one I was talking about. You have probably heard of the one in my case, hence my decision to keep it quiet.)

Just looked at their FB pages..........there's so many photos that have obviously been purloined from elsewhere that's it's beyond being funny...........I mean, how many consoles do they actually own? :-\

I can understand not wanting to make a fuss yourself. I felt awkward making a fuss about the problem I had a few weeks back.

However Seb is right, "we've got your back". I have been spreading this to everyone I know. Chris has earned his stature in the Sydney industry and deserves no less.

This for some reason just makes me angry.
There is probably not much we can do, but feels like we should make an example out of crash

Sorry for my ignorance, but is that ad from a magazine?
Could you contact them? Surely there must be some accountability on publishing truth?

Good point, the photographer who took the photo of Chris's studio, will have copyright on that photo.

What the heck...........I'll bite.

Rick, as far as I can see, I don't have access to a list of forum members, consequently, if this is the same for all members, chances are that none of us would know whether Crash is or is not a member here.

What gives?...........It would appear that Crash is using imagery (ie: photos) taken from anywhere he likes to convey a false illusion of his recording facility..........kinda reminds me a time when someone used pics of T'rock's room and portrayed them as their own.

Without sounding like I'm defending, which I'm not, I asked the guy what the story was and he told me that the magazine made the mistake and used that picture, and the magazine is currently taking steps to rectify the error.
I have no idea what's what, but as this is what he told me I thought I should share what I'd been told in the interests of sharing information, which TR has always been about.
I have no opinion of the validity of the account, that's really Chris V's business.
Cheers.

Andy - I'm highly, highly dubious of that story.

Ads are submitted as images, not as text that the magazine then comps together with random images.

If the photo had been part of a magazine article then maybe the story would be plausible.

Thanks all for your input and support.

I was contacted by James (mr crash symphony) - as I said in my reply to him, I don't really buy his marginal 'dog ate my homework' excuse. he submits that it was an error by some junior at the mag, and he had no knowledge of it.

I have asked him out of respect both to me and everyone else in Sydney that he tone down the bullsh!t on his facebook/website and remove all images of other studios that imply something that clearly isn't. and no longer falsely advertise his studio with images lifted from others.

Whilst I don't really care for crash symphony - what annoys me the most is that noobs that have no idea may get sucked into the lies. which is bad for everybody.

Thanks again, matter closed as far as i'm concerned!

May I add...(after checking the studio website)
Any studio using Presonis monitor contoller to listen through? -> "best studio in Sydney" ? - really made me laugh!
The gear list? another chuckle...

Modern marketing - Its amazing!
(IMO - I would say Linear may be the best studio in Sydney - no wonder your photo's were "accidentally" used)))))))

Fwiw, imo, that's bullshit
Anyone getting a print in a mag has the final sign off. Surely they would have had him approve the ad before it went to print, especially assuming he paid for it? Besides, how did they get that photo if he didn't supply it to them?

I noticed Crash Symphony's website also had picture of the live room from Avatar Studios in NYC without any description.

Well spotted.
and so it unravels...
- oh, it must be the web designers fault...

Imagine booking this facility based on these photos of consoles and live room, and turning up for the session?
I'd have them reported for false advertising by lunchtime.

Spread the word.

What a bloody lame thing to do.

Would be funny to call up and say, "Ah yes hello my name's David Gilmour, heard your studio is the best in town, we'd like to book in for a month to record my next album".

Bloke would probably crap his pants. :))
