i'm sure we'd all love to know!

Well, the ABN that appears in that ad reveals it to be registered to a Samuel David Evans as individual/sole trader with Kirribilli, Sydney as the main business location (all publicly available info on the Australian Business Register website)

does anyone here have an accent?
to make it sound like they are from a touring group.

what happens when someone actually wants to check it out?

or is it a scam to get a deposit up front?

It would be fascinating to call and ask to book Studio A and see what happens...

The gear list is a cut and paste from the Village's gear list.
http://villagestudios.com/gear/

Image #1 (and 2) looks to be from SAE in Byron Bay
https://www.tineye.com/search/92a7f591c ... 5140ddba9/

Image #3 is from One River Media in San Francisco
https://www.tineye.com/search/7dd33c589 ... a9f1d167e/

Image #6 is from the SAE in Madrid.
https://www.tineye.com/search/159d14b27 ... 654ffb0aa/

I couldn't identify #5, but I think it was in the RA book that we got on a group purchase a few years back.

Eeek Crazy stuff.
False advertising like this will only back fire on these people.
Thankfully anyone who knows the studio scene in Oz will immediately see through the BS.
It's too small in Oz to try this shit on...they will fall on their swords.

I'm just fascinated by the logic:

Scene 1.
'Hmmm I'm an evil bastard wanting to scam a section of the community that is vulnerable but very wealthy, who shall I choose?.....ah yes, young rock bands!!'
Cue the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars and fade malevolent laughter.

Scene 2. (crappy studio interior)
'See that mic there.' points to be!@#$%^& microphone, 'Stevie Wonder and Ella Fitzgerald made hits singing into that exact mic!' A confused band member asks 'isn't that an Mbox we're recording into. where's the console and all the vintage stuff?' 'That's actually a 50s valve mixing console that once belonged to Sun Records. You guys wouldn't understand how rare and valuable that piece is...we've had it professionally disguised as an Mbox to reduce the risk of theft. You can't be too careful with these one-of-a-kind museum grade relics of recording history' etc etc

Such disgusting fraudulent behavior on a grand scale.
Gobsmacked at the pathetic delusion(s).

I really hope someone goes and visits and reports back here.
Anyone passing nearby ?

.
The best way to deal with this kind of behaviour is to report it as false and misleading advertising to Gumtree and ask them to remove the ad immediately. Let them know you will be also reporting it to the following:

1: NSW Dept of Fair Trading,
2: Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Gumtree has a responsibility to remove ads that are misleading or fraudulent.

Make sure you include details of the origin of the photos shown in the ad as well as the ABN number.

Honest advertising and selling practices under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 benefit small businesses and consumers alike.

Enterprising small businesses should be able to prosper on the merit of their products or services without fearing that competitors will gain an unfair competitive advantage from dishonest representations.

Consumers also have a right to accurate and truthful information from businesses about their purchases.

Hope this helps.

I reported it two days ago. Gumtree have not responded in any way as far as I can tell.

Update - I just submitted a 3rd report. Feel free to submit your own.

OK, apparently the trick is to email their support directly via the "contact us" page. Mindy responded about two hours after my 3rd report.

Hello Manning Bartlett,

Thank you for your email.

Based on the information you provided, I have deleted this ad from Gumtree and blocked this person from posting any future ads.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

Thanks,

Mindy

Good work Manning. Of course he'll probably pop up somewhere else, so in anticipation of that, I'd email a copy of the complaint to the NSW Fair Trading as well as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

That's what they call preventitive maintenance.

Once they drag him over the coals he'll probably think twice about doing it again.

Greg - if I was engaging in a scam like this, I'd probably not use my own ABN.

I would guess that the person associated with that ABN is probably completely unaware of what is going on.
