thinking of using dining table.....

Postby Wiz » Sat Jan 30, 2016 8:59 am

I am in the process of re doing my studio...

I am toying with the idea of using a big old clunky chunky dining table and building racks to go next, on ...maybe under.

One of the biggest hurdles, is cable management.

Anyone doing just this... how did you get around the cable management?

I will have a 24 X 4 X 2 console (38" wide) on my left sitting on two 11 space rack units, I have already built

There will be lots of cables running to and from it.

I also have about 32 RU of gear...

Any doing, done this? Got pictures?

cheers

I should add.. my set up sits a couple of meters back from a wall, and I record vocal and acoustic stuff, between it and the wall, sounds good there...

So I kinda wanna hide stuff...

I have currently, a gobo behind the desk, that hides everything, and functions pretty well...

looking for left of centre inspiration

Hi Wiz,
I use something like this :
http://www.4cabling.com.au/single-layer ... 15042.html
my benchtop sits on top of two rack units and this runs behind them screwed to the underside of the benchtop.
You could probably make your own out of timber but the cage setup is handy so cable can enter/exit wherever you need.

Hi Pete,

I'm changing my studio around ( again) got a console coming in and I have some nice studio furniture I might be able to let go ...if you're interested ?
It's a custom built (pro) table about 6 foot wide with a half moon shape at the front with about 16u underneath on two sides and drilled ports for cable management ;)
Can't send photo right now cause I'm away..but if you're interested let me know.

Cheers
