Motu Oscilloscope

Postby Wiz » Fri Mar 18, 2016 11:24 am

I just did something, I think, its nifty.... :D

I had a channel strip in my console that was down 20dB in volume.

I really wished I had a oscilloscope... then I realised I did.

Motu, have a suite of audio tools... one of them is a CRO.

Sure enough opened logic... set up a channel with a 1 kHz test tone going out at -18dBfs and using alligator clips and a multimeter probe, I was good to go...

I don't think you would want to do serious stuff with it.. but for following a tone through the circuit it was great... the ribbon cable in the console was long enough to put the channel strip right out of the console on a work surface and it was great... The sound craft tech manual gives a great description of the circuit.

Oh, the problem... because the strip has been modified (before it got to me) there was a dud solder joint...

Was cool though.. and worked really well

cheers

Good catch and a nifty use of available software.
