Best thing you heard in 2016?

Postby Text_Edifice » Tue Dec 06, 2016 5:49 pm

It's been a bit quiet around here lately so I was thinking - It's the end of the year, what was the best thing you heard this year?

For me it was a couple of albums by a band called Mount Moriah from the states. Simple, straight ahead (well, kinda queer) country rock. Great songwriting.

Gimme some new things to listen to.

I really liked Carrie and Lowell too.

But it happened to be the new record I used to test the setup on my new turntable. I spent probably an hour mucking about with the cartridge and tone-arm before I read the 'recorded on an ipad' bit.

Albums:
Julia Jacklin - Don't Let The Kids Win
Ray LaMontagne - Ouroboros
D.D Dumbo - Utopia Defeated
Singles:
Gretta Ray - Drive
Elbow - Magnificent (She Says)
...all sound really good, but by far the best sounding single track I've heard this year is

Kingswood - Creepin
So fat.
