Re: Pressing Plant to Open in Melbourne
When I was getting low-run records pressed about 15 years ago I recall it being incredibly expensive. I'm amazed there is enough business for a new plant to open up.

Re: Pressing Plant to Open in Melbourne
Precision Record Pressing in Ontario is the world's first manufacturing plant to use all new record presses in more than 30 years. Program Records in Melb will be using the same type, new designed in Toronto, Warmtone pressing machines as will be used by Precision. All mastering and cutting of master disks will be done buy Gill Mathews, who is behind Aztek Records here in Melb and is former drummer with Billy Thorpe.

There a bigger one opening in sydney too
Point of difference being one is in sydney with the best of the
Old sydney factories workers coming together to form a super group
Of experienced record factory technicians .
I find myself on that list .
I think I will play bass
Bizarre times .

Re: Pressing Plant to Open in Melbourne
It's probably cheaper than 15 years ago. My bands, my friends bands, all the bands we play with and most of the bands I record and mix release their full-lengths on 12". The plants all have massive back-logs. There must be plenty of work.
Last run I did (12 months ago??) came out about 9 bucks a unit including labels, sleeves, download cards, shrink-wrap and shipping from the Czech Republic. If you can flip at shows for 20, 25 in shops it makes sense as long as you can sell all of them.
