I just bought the dream old neve console

So I have to sell my neve 8816 ( with dig card +8804 fader pack)
And 4 x 4081 quad mic pres

Which gives you a 16 channel modern 80 series neve

I have been using it for years now , and wasnt going to go into anything
Else ever , then the Festival /301 - 8038 came up and i bought it the other day
So i need to get out of this console

Retail for the 8816 is 3899
Digital options 1000
Fader pack is. 2299
4081 is 3999
4081is 3999
4081 is. 3999
4081 is. 3999

So thats 23000 aud rrp new
Nobody buys neves retail not me not you

But Keeping it all together as a mixer I am looking
for 3000 for the mixer complete
And 4500 for each set of 8 mic pres

So the entire 16 mic/ line perfect solution console for 12000 with gst and i can take credit cards

If i have to split it its going to just jump to ebay prices per box
The 4081 have a phantom power issue on one set of four so i am sending them both to rob squire on monday
To get checked out before sale .
The 8816 has a faulty button cue 13 that i never use anyway
Everthing else works great and sounds incredable
These are well used ( marked here and there ) and great things

That festival desk is one of the best sounding consoles in Australia. Congrats and I'm very jealous.

Congrats Rick!
glad to see that console finally come back to Sydney, and away from students - into a real world tracking studio.

I really look forward to tracking albums on it again!
It will bring back many great memories from Festival.....

(hopefully you will have the option of an Ampex 24 or 16 Tk too? - rather than just the usual Studers?

Well, I haven't used every console in Oz (indeed relatively few), but it (and that lovely old school sounding festival room) was certainly the best of those I have.

ok the 16 neve desk and pres setup is sold pended ..

the abc mobile neve desk is indeed now installed at linear right next door to me , I couldn't get my ducks lined up to make the full payment for the desk after holding on to it for so long so I had to fold on the deal after stalking it for almost 20 years ! .

I offered it to chris at linear so it wouldn't have to go overseas which was the only realistic option .

Chris grabbed it without hesitation then restored and installed it immediately and beautifully , total credit to the linear crew on that one .. its been top on my list of regrets for a few years now .

The festival desk wipes all regrets away , I have wanted it my whole adult life, Its vastly different in looks and design and mojo to the linear neve desk and at the same time is very very similar , they are both just neve electronics done well at the best time in neves history .

I did a session with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty at festival , way way before the internet , Tom Petty said to me " I love this place its just like sound city !, same desk same vibe , actually your one is a just little bigger and in much better condition ! "

At that point in time every wanted a SSL e series , us included

before he left Tom petty made two firm offers to purchase the Neve , one when we though he was joking .
and then he came back a few days later and went straight to the boss sat down with him and offered him $100k us ( which would have bought us an SSL ) my boss said thanks for the offer but no thanks .

Onwards and upwards

I guess that's the console I saw at Festival in 1978 when I was younger and wiser and looking for work. Hoping to get a tour of Turtlerock when it's up and running there :-)

Btw check out Linear website - looks like a lovely studio too.
