Wondering if the T-rock Brains trust can shine some illumination on this Tape machine.
Its a 3 track 1 inch MCI JH110-C machine, Very little info I can find on the web.
I assume it was used for Audio visual mastering of some kind
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Can provide more photo's and details if required
Thanks

It's a 'C' format video layback machine. It is a 1" machine but not designed for audio tape.
You won't ever get this going as a recording machine, trust me. Walk away.

It was used for laying or stripeing audio onto a 1' video tape..., back in the good old days.

Layback - as in transferring mastered or 'sweetened' audio back on to a video master.
As for links etc, you won't find much info out there. MCI made these to order, so I don't think you'll find them in catalogues/price lists etc (could be wrong though).
Whilst they more or less started out in the factory as a regular JH-110, there are a dozen or so major (and probably about a hundred minor) differences between this and an audio machine, and whilst it's theoretically possible to roll back the modifications... just no.
Off the top of my head... capstan is wrong, speed is wrong (10.5 ips anybody?), tension set up is different (video tape vs audio tape), the audio electronics are a bit mysterious, oh and of course you'll need a new headstack, not sure about the power supply.
Basically it's a parts machine for the schmucks amongst us that own a couple of JH-110s.
