We recently acquired an ATR-104 (1/2" 4-track) recorder.
I have a near new ATR 1/4" 2-track headstack which I'll use to convert it to 1/4" 2-track.
I need to replace the tensioner arm guide rollers as part of the conversion to 1/4" but apart from that it needs new capstan bearings and I'll likely replace the bearings in the optical encoder as well.
Does anyone know where I can obtain the correct bearings here in Oz? (quality precision bearings not el cheapo versions)
The local bearing suppliers I have tried don't seem to have a clue regarding the capstan bearing part numbers I gave them. No one has stock.
The other option is to just order them from the US.

Re: Ampex ATR-100 local spare parts?
UPDATE: Okay I've found some capstan bearings.
I got a pair of Japanese KSM's and a pair of NSK's.
I fitted the KSM's and she now purrs like a kitten!
Next to do are the optical encoder bearings an the tensioner arm bearings.

Thanks Rick.
I'll have to order a pair of 1/4" tape guides anyway from either ATR Services or Precision Motorworks in the US.
