OK so I'm ready to take the plunge into IEMs, but I have no idea where to start - no experience with them at all.
Any advice/opinions/recommendations for a headphone amp/ear buds combo?
I play various types of keyboard rigs (sometimes funk/soul hammond, rhodes etc, sometimes synth/electronica), usually submixed to a Radial Key-Largo mixer - sometimes in good rooms with good PAs where I can just get a stereo send from FOH/monitors (easy), but also self-mixed gigs (think weddings, small venues etc) where I would normally bring my own powered wedges. So I would need a solution where I could add some ambience to my keys (being able to hear the rest of the band in these gigs would be a real luxury!)
Maybe a HP amp with multiple inputs? I want to avoid getting another mixer.
Don't think I need/want wireless. No idea about budget but always looking for the price/performance sweet-spot.
Just want to hear some real-world opinions and experiences.
Many thanks!

Re: IEM advice
hey wez.
rob makes NEARLY the box that you want.
i helped him and a drummer put together a great iem monitoring solution for drummers specifically, so it has a "aux in" for the click that the drummer can control.
https://www.proharmonic.com/products/
(its the second product down called the headband)
im sure rob could easily remove the click input, and put a small mic amp in there and give you an aux input for ambience. that way you blend between the stereo mix, and the aux mix.
robs HP amps are the best so there is no question about that part of the box.
as far as the in ears themselves, custom moulds make a huge difference if you can afford them. shure SE425 and 535 seem to the the standard "generics" if thats what you want. but moulds will make a huge difference - 64 audio are the new kids on the block http://www.64audio.com/ JH https://jhaudio.com// and ultimate are the other go tos http://pro.ultimateears.com/uelive
drop me an email if you need any more info or introductions to anyone.

Re: IEM advice
Hey Gareth, thanks heaps for chiming in (I was hoping you would!)
Actually I was seriously thinking of getting rob to make up something like a Headband, with extra inputs... I guess really what we're talking about is a small mixer with a really good headphone amp. It would need to have a built in limiter though.
I'm tempted to start off with a cheap system to see how it works for me... but not so cheap that it puts me off the idea!
And big thanks for the other info, I'll give you a buzz.
