guitar amp as bass distortion...is something gonna blow?

i just checked, and the stereo is 50W per side. so strapped up as dual-gang mono would achieve 100W power dissipation. clipped waves (ie. distortion) could push output of a pinned 100W amp up to 150W (?? being square waves as seen by the speaker), so it could be a very close-run thing.

maybe two stereo units set up as dual-gang, with the ability to patch one in, or both? ie. in > speaker, OR in > in > speaker

of course you could put these into a separate jiffy-box, instead of fitting them into the cab itself. that'd be nice and flexible.
