AKG D202 CS mic info.

I have a D202 CS here (I think these things are a dual capsule cardioid?) but it uses a small 3 pin plug, I am trying to figure out if it is a mini XLR or some other format. Does anyone have one of these mics? I want to sell it, but I need to make up a cable to test it with first, so i would be interested in any info on the connector that they used.

Yeah I have one of those. Its a pretty cool mic. I don't know much about it though. Mine also have the same small 3 pin style connector. It seems to screw on to connect to the mic rather than click in like a regular xlr. I just wired it to a standard xlr. Works fine. There sees to be a lot of these up on eBay of late. Although they are good mics, I personally think they are not worth the price being asked on ebay but hey, its up to you what you think its worth right.

I repaired one of these recently, from memory it had a din plug on it. I have the pin out somewhere for it. If you take it apart make sure you document it as it is quite a complex construction!!!

Sound wise the owner had 4 of them in mint condition and sold them all as they were somewhat similar to a 57ish sound and used the funds for other studio purchases. Not bad for a find in his Uncles basement

yep; 3 way DIN socket with screwthread. These are common on many older mics

RS and Farnell sell suitable in line cable sockets.

Thanks Rob, I will order one from Farnell tomorrow and make up an adaptor cable to make sure that the mic is OK before I sell it. Anyone have an idea of a reasonable price for the mic?
