Tontine in Brisbane

Postby Text_Edifice » Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:13 pm

Hi,

need to build some absorber panels and after trying to source Tontine Acousticsorb 3 in Brisbane have been told a minimum order is 167m2 @ 42.50 / m (much more than I need and too expensive for my purposes). Can anyone suggest a good alternative to Acousticsorb 3 that can be bought in smaller quantities or alternatively a source for offcuts in Brisbane?

I know I could use rockwool but prefer something that doesn't need to be handled or contained as carefully.

Thanks

Dave

Hello

People in this very forum have suggested to me the bradford Soundscreen bats - you will find them in any Bunnings store and they are not expensive and from the reading I've done, perform very well for broadband purposes so long as you go for the thicker product (3.0). Like you, I was considering a range of products including plain Rockwool. This product has similar properties as Rockwool anyway.

I'm about to build my own in the next few weeks and I'll be using the Soundscreen bats. The rate well in terms of allergens etc also but at any rate I'll be facing mine off with a synthetic doona-like fabric that Ikea sell cheaply (in the linen section from memory) which is breathable yet will stop fibres or nasties coming through. Lincraft or anyone like that sells this fabric, too.

Soundscreen bats from Bunnings (or wherever) = effective trouble free solution!

Thanks for the info – would prefer a poly product if at all possible. I know fibers etc. aren't really an issue if they're contained but I know I'll be tweaking the panels so would like something I can pull out and repack with no fuss. Any other suggestions / suppliers?

Problem solved – for future reference the guys to talk to are:

Plastamasta Southside
13-15 Nevilles St
Underwood, QLD 4119
(07) 3387 7800‎

Price on a pack of Acousticsorb 3 50 mm was just under $160 (about $18 / m2).

Very easy to deal with.
