One Republic New Record

Wow nice songs, great vocals, nice production but gee they are running those tubes/pres on the vocals to over, over drive. There would have been a time the vocals would have been edited out and re-done thinking the intern did the session, but I suppose times have changed. I'm not saying it 's not good but it sure does fatigue the ears after listening to it for a while.
What do you reckon, are producers just testing out different production technics because everything is starting to sound similar. Or producers and bands not looking are recordings that will last the test of time, like some records that are still selling heaps for the last 30 or so years eg: Pink Floyd, you can add to the list...................
