Water? If you're desparate.
Wine? Schmine.
The true creative inspiration here is the liquid that has been drunk - see empty cup bottom right!!
I also dread to think what the airconditioning for two Mac G5s, a pair of monitoring Genelecs and a glass window are doing for the vocals.

I'm not sure the monitors will have much effect on the vocal sound since they're probably not on while recording. It looks like they're tracking with ear goggles on for that reason.
I'm taking a wild stab that that's not wine in the glass, it's coke. No bottle of wine around, and Reznor's a recovering alcoholic who's been off the stuff for a while now.
As for the window having an effect on the vocal sound...

It's the sound comin' through the window that I wonder about, Mark - mind you, windows do make a nice tinkling sound when smashed over the heads of obtuse forum administrators ;-) (geez, I hope that doesn't get me banned for life).
Mind you, you're spot on with the soft drink - the can is sitting behind the glass.
Is no-one going to play "List the Rack"? APART from the LA2A. The comps that Trent's fiddling with are Distressors, yes? And the preamps? If they're Neve's, everyone else puts the red knob at the OTHER end!
