Anyone Fishing in Sydney?

Knowing that there are some keen anglers amoungst us, anyone fishing Sydney during the winter months? If so, what works and where?

it depends how good and keen you are , i am tied up with the kid untill he figures out his thing, and i like to fish nights which is a bit too cold in winter , however, i promise you the easiest way to catch a fish or two in winter is the north side of the harbour bridge, just drive by on any afternoon / sunset or early morning if thats your thing, its a wonderful view , too ridulous a spot to fish to be crowded for very long and i have caught monster whiting and trevally and tailor there on a sunny winter afternoon.
sydney harbour is like desrt with oasis spots for fishing , that one is an oldy but a goodie.
maybe i could start up a fishing tips thread...?
errr ,maybe not , nothing to see here folks move along...

I've been fishing since I was a boy, my Dad was mad keen fishermen and I'm in Northbridge. I thought Sydney Harbour is too polluted? In about 2 months winter will be over! But on these balmy winter afternoons I'd love to find a spot close that actually works?

I got 6 reels and 8 rods I think. I know Maroubra really well, but its no good during winter because of the winds. Forty Baskets Beach near Manley, off the jetty is always good for trevally but who wants trevally!

get on a boat in the hacking river and you won't be dissapointed, mostly a summer sport for obvious reasons but on a warm weekend it makes for a great day out... i'm a pretty average angler but i've managed to catch a few decent bream and a monster flathead

the pollution is sydney harbour has not changed for the worse in the last 25 years, it has actually improved , so much that we know have whales in the harbour , the pollution scare is to do with heavy metals put in the harbour in the 1930s they have only been able to measure them for 1 year and nobody likes the readings but there is no world wide standard for the acceptible levels in fish, so thus all the fuss.

they have not mesured anywhere else in australia yet , so fish while you can , just dont eat the 40 year old bream ( 2kg) from sydney harbour

Thought the same Peter but it won't be 12 years as the lad will be fishing
from 5 on.

i am taking him to burrajuck damn to catch a 40 kg barra in november with his uncles ( or at least there will be a picture of him on a t shirt for them to wear)

there is no packing up the rods , its just that the little fellow cannot quite roll over by himself at night yet, i am still too scared of sids to be fishing at 2am on a cold winters night
