after everything he went through, i'm so sad to hear this. his first book was amazing - to me he was one of the great survivors.

seeing him perform 'modern girl' on Countdown was one of my first "I'm gonna be in the music business" moments. i was 9 years old and i still remember it.

James has been on the "Club" list for quite some time. He'd been saved from himself by family & friends on countless occasions. I'm very sad but not surprised. He's left behind a loving long suffering family & some real toe tapping tunes. He lived a very full life indeed. I miss him.
