Lisson Grove R-124 - anyone tried this?

Postby Hybrid88 » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:41 pm

Just came across this;

...and I must say it looks absolutely gorgeous, redesign of the legendary EMI "Beatles" Altec.

This is pretty new and already people are saying it's one of the best new compressors money can buy, certainly looks like a modern classic, seriously considering a long, long (did I say long?) save for this one. Though it does seem a good price for the quality you're getting.

Has Rick (or anyone else) tried it yet? :)

Ha ha, fair enough.

I don't know what it is but I have always envisioned you to be the first to ask when it comes to trying out a bit of delicious outboard gear, be it old or new. :)

I'm sure it sounds good but there is something wrong about the way it looks... I think chicken heads were the wrong decision for input and output and the scale around them is too big. Nice meter though...

Yeah, I dunno, I think it looks great. You could always replace the knobs though, wouldn't be hard.

Gotta say I'm surprised no one around here has tried it yet, looks very nice.
