Anybody have any info on good 110v stepdown transformers? I have one a 500watter that hums acoustically and hums on the current too so anything hooked up to it hums and clearly I wish to get rid of it. What should I be looking to get? I have only a few 110v based pieces of gear that dont have alterable p/s for local current.
Thoughts?

Re: 110v stepdown
Add up all your power consumptions, and then go looking for something (or two somethings?) that gives you around 20-50% more...
You probably want something that provides earth path continuity unless every single thing you have is double insulated.
I bought a smallish (<100w) step down from soanar plus (jaycar) for my mpc and have been really happy with it.

Re: 110v stepdown
Hi Myles
I've had a 1000w 110V stepdown from Tortech for a bunch of years. I ordered direct online, it come quickly and very well packed. I ordered the 500W and because they didn't have it in stock....they sent me the 1000W at no charge.
I bought a 5 way US powerboard from them.... and game over.
I never notice it in the studio...sometimes I see it round the back of the racks when I'm tinkering and go "oh...that's right, I have a bunch of 110V devices". Nice clean build with no noise issues.
