+4dbm and -10 dbu......

I am wondering if anyone knows of a webpage that explains the difference between the 2.....

I understand that +4dbm is considered a pro level, - 10dbu consumer or semi pro. I also understand that DB is a standard of measurement,

I just confused about a few things and want to clarify the difference.....

I feel it is in relation to a mix should equal 0vdbu and it was used as a standard and then teac or Ta@#$% depending on what they wanted to called them selves come along and made the semi pro stuff and to make their mark decided to make it a different output voltage......

I am very uncertain and there are alot of things not clear about and I am sure I just said alot of completly stupid comments that dont even come close to hitting the money

I did the math for it a long time ago and I am a little vague, and now I am also not able to pass the difference onto someone who plays guitar and setting things up......

all I can say is be wary of it, because if they are mismatched it will lead to tears, and spending money...... and to match it will lead to spending a little more money which results in tears....

when I learnt it a while ago I could barely get my head around it, now I cant and everything is pearshaped....


any help would be greatly apreciated and if I cross your path a drink on my half will gladly be shouted......
