Hi Vic

I always get bit nervous about insulation displacement connections having had some bad experience with them when I use to do studio maintenance back in 70-80's.

It's hard to go past a good solder joint if it is done correctly.

If you decide to go with the solderless option, make sure you have a cable support bar so that there is no tension on the connections.

Hi Vic

Just realised that your heading says screw terminal, I looked at the pic and thought it was an insulation displacement connection.

If it's a screw terminal connection it would probably be OK, but I'd recommend a cable support bar which ever option you take.

Hi Vic

I would say.....soldering would be quicker and may give a better long term connection.

These panels would be cool for someone who hates to solder. Is that you Vic? :)

BTW, How's the CAD factory studio build coming along?

cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the input.
Greg, Yes I believe it does have a cable support bar, but will double check this.

And Ben, Yes, I can't stand soldering, In fact I have once before soldered up an entire studio build and the tought of doing it again fills me with dread !!.

So, I am really keen on these screw terminal connections.

The build is going well, slowly, but well. There's lots of projects on the go at the moment so I am getting to it when I can. I would say the Control Room will be finished in less than two weeks, then will set up gear in there, then get to some other neglected building work for a few weeks, then the start on the live room and booths (the live room will also have a sprung dance floor in it, so I want a few weeks off before starting that one !
