Genelec 1037b's

Postby toddd » Thu Sep 06, 2012 6:02 pm

Hey y'all,

I need to replace a the mid driver in some Genelec 1037b's. Just wondering if anybody had experience with these speakers, and if so knew the best people to talk to about getting replacement parts?

Cheers,

I bought a secondhand pair of Genelec 1031a's a while ago and enquired about new drivers. They said that they will stock parts for all models for at least 15 years after they go out of production - so your best bet is prob to just contact them and buy a new one. Or two, I'd always change the drivers at the same time.

Hi Todd,
I had a pair in my old studio. Studio Connections (late Dave Sloss used to run it) in Nunnawading were the Genelec people in Australia at that time.
OK found them:

Why are you replacing mids? Completely gone or...?
BTW: Where did you get the 1037s? Just curious if they might be my old ones.
Cheers

sorry mate, i cnat see where you're currently based, but the Speaker Hospital in Ashfield NSW is a great company to deal with...cant remember what the big cheese' name was, but he's a top bloke that knows his shit, and is real nice too :-) i got my monitors replaced there, and the guy repairs some very high end monitors.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Senad, I believe I've actually been doing some work in the studio that you built. So that would mean that they are the one's you once owned...

The mid driver on one side has stopped putting out any signal - the bass and highs seem fine...

Miles, will def be getting both replaced..

And I'm not sure why you can't see where I am, I thought it said 'melbourne' on the right hand side...

Cheers!

Cool Todd.
I thought it might be them, as there are not many around. Does Rob still own the place? I've never had a chance to drop by, I have a few days studio time credit with Rob as well :D .
How are you liking the place?
Pretty sad one of the Gennies has given up

Rob does still own the place. It hasn't changed that much, he's a busy touring musician and I just use the place occasionally to track drums and have a listen through the big speakers...

The genie's will be back to life soon! Don't worry, haha.

No probs Jamil, someone else a while ago said they didn't know where I was located either...
