Info On Optro Modules?

Postby Chris H » Thu Jul 20, 2006 5:09 pm

Here is a pic of optro preamps i have just racked. All i know is they came from a desk at Armstrongs (now AAV ) Melbourne and went to Alan Eatons Studio in St Kilda.
They are very nice sounding in a fuller, softer way than my other optros and the compressor limiter works well without many audible artifacts. Fat Bass and sweet highs.
Any one know of the original desk they came from and how it was set up?
Thanks in anticipation.

I used to work at AAV and know Bill Armstrong quite well. He's usually in here once a month, so I'll ask next time I see him.

Just been chatting with Bill's son and he remembers the modules from when he was a teen. AAV had 2 optro desks in the 70's, these modules look like they came from the big console they had originally in studio one. He said it had a "gull wing" kind of shape, not sure what that means. I'm hassling to get more info from Bill and will post back when I get more info.
Cheers
