Custom Desk Just Finished for Audient Console

Postby SteveL » Wed Mar 13, 2013 4:19 pm

Just finished work on a custom desk to house my Audient 4816 and outboard gear/patchbays 16ru on either side and modular (3 pieces) for ease of moving. Audient kindly loaned a console to the builders to ensure the fit was right, she looks pretty good doesn't she? Lucky I have long arms like a giant octopus, the dimensions on the thing are BIG!

Very slick Steve. Have you got your audient yet? How do you like it?

Btw I've seen Steves' giant octopus arms before and they are truly a sight to behold :)

Hi Ben, yes I've had the Audient for about 5 months now, just finally gotten around to housing it in something decent.I am enjoying the desk a lot, it's perfect for me in terms of channels/size and I love working on an in-line console, which I had not done before getting the 4816. Chris Rollans (Lanie Lane) was down here some weeks back to use the desk to track an 8-track EP for Huckleberry Hastings which will be out mid-year. It's perfect for that kind of thing (alt-folk/acoustic singer-songwriter stuff).

I've just finished plans for a new detached studio build on the property down here, I've been jammed in the cottage here for the past year or so (very tolerant wife/drum kit in the kitchen/main hallway closed off for vocal booth etc)! Your mobile rig looks fantastic btw. The logo reminds me of the old Sunshine Harvesters (one of which is rusting away in my dad's paddock at Bathurst!

Steve.

Hi,

Looks great. Who did the build for you? I have had plans drawn up for a custom desk to house all my gear but come find someone to build it :-). I have really clear plans with each individual cut and construction details. Any leads would be great.

Hi Vic. Buso Audio made it for me, but they're not local unfortunately, Netherlands-based.

Nice Steve.
From Holland...did customs make you spray it when it came in ?
(Interested in importing a bit of wood myself !)

A really good cabinet maker can do it on vague explanation and a mud map!
