Buying Car Speakers... (yes i just got AT)

thought i would just add something to this interesting article...

before finally landing myself a decent 'studio dweeb' job, i was working part time in two places that rick mentioned, one an electronics place, and the other a auto parts/car sound place

and an important point i have to agree with is..

do NOT listen to anything the experts in the car audio places tell you about audio, i spent most of my work-time in stunned disbelief listening to some of the other 'experts' crap on about how 'sick' these particular speakers sounded, not to mention the interesting theorys on RMS wattage and various other basic electronic concepts

in the ever present fear of being pigeon holed as a know-it-all-SAE-Grad-nerd i kept my mouth shut and didn't argue but simply asked people how much they wanted to spend, checked the size they wanted and then sold them the most expensive speaker i could

and if anyone wants to know the best way (in my opinion) to set up their car system... top quality front splits, a decent head unit, 4 channel amp with 2 of them bridged into a 10inch sub

that, i feel, in just about any car, will give you the closest thing to 'studio sound'..... by saying that i may have just totally missed the point! :)

i'll now get back to EQ'ing this kick drum, it's me vs mr genelec today
