It's that time of year again, the Annual ABC surplus auction.

I would love to go. I see they have some DeltaLab single tap delays. I could really use another one for pre delay.
I wonder how much the SoundWorkshop Series 34 for will go for?
Cheers,
Paul

I thought the prize at this auction would have been the Studer 961 mixing desk on page 4.

Careful. It might not be compatible with Intel Macs.

Well I forked out a few scheckels, mostly for work related stuff, Talia meterbridges, Innescorp Flashlogs. On behalf of our generous forum benefactor I got a Euphonix sync/machine control interface. An AWA G232 low distortion sig-gen,some Ta@#$% TDIF converters and a Dolby 562 reference surround decoder for my playroom.
Met up with the Hookemeister and Ben Moore and a few other all round good blokes , and Stopped bidding on the Studer 961 desk at $1075.... It was just going up too fast. A lot of the stuff was pretty rough this year.

So what did the 961 fetch out of interest?

$1100, but it was just going too fast for me, if I'd stayed in it I reckon it would have at least doubled that.
It was a Stereo unit (2 summing bus, 2 Aux) with 9 Stereo High level "952" modules and one Mono Mic/Line .
Fair condition, would need to be given some love . The Neve last year was a better buy IMO

I picked up an old PML dynamic, (Sweden), which actually works and sounds pretty sweet.

First PML for my collection... unfortunately the ABC have badly engraved their name on it, sought of like we use engrave our name into the school desk!

The only Sony mic's I saw were a few wireless mics and a mini shotgun.

There was a Sony DMX R100 console that went for $950.... if it works, it was a bargain. The guy who bought it had no idea what it was... he also bought a stack of other gear... pallet loads... has an ebay business.

So the Sony DMX R100 will end up on ebay at some time I guess.

Best part of the auction was catching up with Alastair and meeting Ben for the first time.

Those auctions are always a reality check on how quickly technology depreciates.
