Answer - The guy that designs / owns MineLab, Bruce Candy, also some years back designed
built a line of audio power amps under the name of Halcro (his middle name). They were supposedly
the lowest distortion audio power amps ever built (at the time) and he has patents on their circuitry.

Apparently they measured around -120dB distortion at 20kHz / full power (1ppm). They were also
very expensive.

Now - the interesting thing, which I'm getting to... is a lot of people bought these, initially bowled over
by their incredible resolution and and ability to resolve stuff in the recording the owners had ever heard.
However, after a period most of the owners got tired / fatigued / whatever and sold them. The general
consensus was digging too deep into the recording at playback was detrimental in the long term to
actually enjoying the music. General opinion is they sound too sterile.

I think this is why tubes have hung in there for so long with quality replay systems.
