GIGPIGLET - NEVE BBQ

Postby gigpiglet » Thu Aug 14, 2014 7:30 pm

Hi Turtlerockers...

As you may well have heard me ranting about for the last few months, or somewhere on the grapevine, we have recently installed a new console at GPHQ.
Nothing less than a 48ch Neve 55 series.
Its got a bit of a story, and Rob Squire and i spent an (awful) lot of time getting it back into the shape it should be.
While we were at it, there are a whole lot of other changes around the place… studio B stepped up its game, and we added a small studio C to handle our live recording work.
New headphones, headphone amps, outboard, mics (including some very tasty vintage neumanns) analogue tape machine and the list goes on.

I would love to take this opportunity to invite you down to see all things new on Sunday 31st August, from 3pm.
There will be plenty of beer, because what goes better with audio gear than beer, and pulled pork sliders (cause ive been in the USA for a few weeks, and everyone loves sliders!)

Please RSVP (so we have an idea of how many bread rolls to buy) to info AT gigpiglet.com.au

Hope to see you soon (if the date doesnt work for you but you would still like to come and have a tour of the place, please let me know and we will of course organise that)

Sunday 31st August
3pm onward.
8 Phillip Street
East Redfern
(just off the corner of blackmore lane)

cheers!

Tempted to book a cheap flight and treat myself to a day out in Seedy Knee... especially after all the help/advice you've given me over the last few months! Maybe not this time, but would love to come and check out GPHQ some time.

Mmmmm pork, beer and Neve... have a good one!

Neve... beer... pork sliders... and a chance to meet other Turtlerockers, now there's a good reason for a visit to Sydney!

Looking forward to it.

See you on the 31st.

Thanks for the invite, and I'd love to drop by, but I'm running one of my modular synth get-togethers that day (all T'Rockers welcome BTW, starts at 1PM and 10 mins from Gareth's place, see sig for details).

Just wanted to say thanks to Gareth for great afternoon of eating, drinking and studio chat.

Points of interest:

1: Neve console, Studer 24 track and Studer 2 track mastering machine all ready to go for a totally non digital recording experience... haven't seen that setup for a while.

2: Some excellent artwork hanging on the walls... the place has great feel.

3: Only studio I've been in that has a bathroom with a bidet and a shower with stereo shower heads!

Oh yeah... and the pork sliders were just the best.

Hey Gareth, put me on the list for the next one.

Thanks

yes many thanks to everyone who came down.
great to see some faces old and new.

as greg mentiones - there is a studio multi and two track machine here now too - so you can leave the 48io PT right out of the equation and go old school all the way.
or of course the tape machine outputs normal back to PT inputs 25-48, so its a no brainer to record to tape then bounce off to tools and keep working from there.

Many thanks to Gareth for the beers, sliders, chats and studio hang last Sunday. Great to catch up with some familiar faces.

I've been using the studio there for various sessions over the last little while and I'm looking forward to more in the future.
Especially now that the studio is complete.
