Insured gear deliveries, claims etc..

Postby Senad » Sun Jun 21, 2015 5:13 pm

Hi guys. Not sure if this is the right section to post in.....
Let's say you've bought an item and paid for delivery (incl. insurance etc)..
You sign for it upon the receipt, but after plugging it in discover it is faulty.
Are you screwed because you've signed for it, or do you have hope
getting your money or a working item back?
Anyone have experience with this?
This is just a general question. Never been in such a situation (having to put a claim in etc.)
but just wondering. Most of the times it is impossible to test stuff before
you sign for it. Do you maybe make the signature subject to further inspection of the item..?
Would that make any sense?
Thanks.

Was it damaged in transit or was it faulty before it was packaged? Usually transit damage would be evident in the packaging and usually in this case I will make a note of it on the con note prior to signing.

Gear arrives, packaging looks OK, you plug it in, it's not working. The seller tells it was 100% operational before they packed it.
I'm guessing the insurance wouldn't help, as there were no clear signs of damage in transit..? What's there a buyer could do in a case like that? Not much, I guess :D

what is wrong with the unit? Is it likely or demonstrable that this fault was caused by shock or physical damage?
I reckon these are the two big questions
