i know this has kind of been addressed, but for those who seem to know a little bit more about this.. when can we expect to see the merchandise if we go through with this? are we talking 6 months here? longer, shorter?
i met the cut off time, i just want some more info before i hand over any cash..

Based on the previous GBs and various comments made about the current buy, I would expect 6 months to be reasonable, maybe more, maybe not.

Hi,
I have also ordered
3 x ACMP-73
2 x ACM-1200
2 x ACM-310
Chance has sent an update today mentioning 'We have to find a creative way to ship outside the USA'.
I know that Kris was offering to place orders for everyone, but then he would need to play with all the money side of things too.
Is it worth investigating consolidating shipments for Australia, or at least by city (I am in sydney). Yes there will be extra charges in 10%gst and 5% duty, however anyone running a business should be able to claim this back. And potentially the economy of scale should make it worthwhile. This will also reduce the overheads of packing and shipping and time for the guys organising the GB, which given there over 600 people registered, with over 2000 products, is going to be a huge job anyway you look at it.
Would be interested to see who is open to this concept and to get an idea of how many people and how much gear is involved. Ideally get it shipped to one location where people can pick up rather that have to ship again.
Cheers

I'm waiting to see if Randy sets up an alternative to Paypal, something he alluded to earlier.
Re shipping..............regardless of whether it's the USPS, fedex, UPS, DHL, etc., none of them are "risk free" but it has been said so many times that Fedex and UPS like to "play games", that where possible, I would avoid them like the plague. If items are sent through the USPS, then they stay within the postal systems and the only additional costs will be if there's a need to pay duty on an item and that should only occur if the shipping value is over $1000AU.

Yeh, crazy. Not only do Paypal charge exorbitant fees they also rip you on the exchange rate. When I processed my payment the AUD was .9283. Paypal then gave me .9053 making an extra 2.3% on the deal.
Hopefully Chance will get it all sorted ok.
Cheers

As far as I know:
ACMP-73 = 1073 (1290) type mic-pre and 1073 EQ points (3 band ) - Yes VU, WITH DI
ACMP-81 = 1073 (1290) type mic-pre and 1081 EQ points (4 band ) - No VU, NO DI
ACMP-84 = 1073 (1290) type mic-pre and 1073 EQ points (3 band extended) - Yes VU, NO DI
Anyone care to confirm / correct ?

Closed May 13, payments due by the 16th.
Of the mics i'm not expecting vintage " Neumann " but i think some will be very decent mics in their own right especialy with the replacement transformers some have suggested.
My mate Bill and i were talking about this a few years ago thinking it is only a matter of time before someone pulls off a neve 1073 clone with decent components and build quality at a much lower price from the chinese manufacturers. As it stands i think the people behind this group buy are heading in that direction and the next round will have better transformers eg cinemag etc. I think they are hunting these down at the moment.
I also think quite a few interested parties are quietly watching this development, potential buyers are exited and buisneses in competition, nervous. I have myself seen one of the mics in the GB that is going for about 1/2 less than $100 for sale here in Oz for around $200.....?

There's someone in South Aust., selling on eBay who's products looking strikingly similar to some of the GB mics and the prices are considerably higher, I don't if he's changed his blurb recently but he had been claiming some models were made in an "eastern European" country.

There is also a guy in the US who has 2 on Ebay at the moment which I have been watching closely with both mics at around $250US each - I think he's looking at just profiteering more than anything, considering their 'actual' price..
he hasnt had any bids thought and they have been relisted twice!!

Tim,
Do you have a link to the US ebay auctions? I know there is a guy/business in the US selling mics from the last GB at silly prices, apparently Chance knows him and doesn't seem too worried by it. I guess at this stage, there isn't any way to fix a pricing structure that people/resellers would be obliged to adhere to, however, if, in the future, Chance takes things to another level, it is something he will have to think about.
