My next project with Rob is a 4 Ch Neve Mic Pre using vintage BA183 Amp cards and new Carnhill trannies. :D

Did you get this done yet, Angus?
I had a similar project in mind.. Was talking to Rob (via email) about it today...

Sure did - got 3 x 4 Ch units built.
Copped an absolute hammering here for asking $5000 for a 4 Ch unit. (the thread is around here somewhere - please don't resurrect it)
No one said s**t when Mick sold similar 2 Ch units for the same money from his website. :|

Hey Angus,
did you or Myles ever have a look for the transformer numbers from this unit. They arent noted on the schematic.

I only ask because I have picked up a few trimax transformers lately, and have two different tube pre designs on the bench which I am trialing transformers for at the moment.

cheers,
Cameron Milne

I do have the part numbers and relevant details for the transformers both input and output and a few other trimax transformers as well. I even have a scan of an old trimax catalogue. What do you need to know?

and I thought 5000 for a 2 channel unit was absurd, that no-one would buy and furthermore no comment was necessary for all of the same reasons that were in that thread. No offence Angus, but there is a thread on this website with someone offering 8 channels of original neve mic pre's (ie actually original neve amps with neve tx's and neve pcbs etc) selling for 5,800 or so. My original neve modules with marinair tx's cost me less than 300 each for 4 on ebay! (plus racking of course).

my thoughts....
