....what on earth does this thread have to do with cracks and pirate mp3s?
personally i don't buy much music gear new, because I'm into synths, but I think that most synths worth having have been out of production for at least 25 years...... so being a silly snob, thats where my occasional gear budget has gone over the years. but where I have bought new gear I understand that yeah it's probably been out of the box before I got it. and if it's missing a plastic bag inside the box then woohoo. one less thing for me to throw away. and fingerprints wipe off! (I do draw the line at actual damage on a "new" item though! like say scratched paint or bent metal, even if it's just cosmetic)
Allans have shop demos out all over the store.. walk in and there's hundreds of things you can pick up and get a feel for..... maybe it's just the staff there recognise you and can't be bothered to go out of their way for demoing you any gear because they know you'll just come up with some chinese ebay price for them to beat in order to "win" your precious business.... or maybe it had nothing to do with you at all, just there was some cute indie chick browsing over at the guitar section who looked like she might be more fun to talk to than you?

You do make a point.
I can't imagine though that thieves that would steal pro gear, would go to each other, hold on, we need to wrap this unit up in a blanket while we put it in the truck or station wagon so that it doesn't get scratched or damaged cause you know how pawn shops are like.
How about let's take these units here as well, but hold on, let's see if we can find the boxes for it, I think it's somewhere here, otherwise forget about it?
Hey driver, drive slow O.K. we don't want to damage the gear at the back.
Id prefer to be refered to as tight than here comes another sucker on the way, lets sell him a be!@#$%^& for the price of an La2a, but who cares, well tell him well provide him premium service.

....this thread is bordering on ludicrous.
Personally, I'm glad MM got some gear back and have a chance of recouping some of their initial outlay. How they choose to package/sell the items is completely up to them. Sure, there'll be people who won't pay "new" price for something that's been out of the shop (especially in the hands of thieves), but if it's in "as new" and 100% functioning, it's sure as hell worth more than "cost"... it's up to their professional and ethical judgement, not ours. Where we shop is up to us.
Thieves suck. They screw everything up for everyone - mp3s, software, hardware... we all pay for it in the end in someway - unless we choose to become a thief ourselves.
Dave.

Having just read this thread I've got 2 things to say:
All (ie:ALL) my software is legit and I abhore all forms of pirating - IMHO people who use cracked software are beneath contempt. There are demos of all decent software that give you plenty of time to suss out whether you can use it or not and if you can't afford it, save up for it like I do, or don't use it. Old adage - you get what you pay for, and don't forget our old friend Karma!
I'm glad the MM got their stuff back and agree with Dave above that they should be able to dispose of the goods in whichever way they choose. I have dealt with them a number of times and I have always found them to be honest and reliable. They are a reputable outfit and I would wager that any prospective purchaser would be filled in as to the history of the intended purchase. What more could you ask?
