50 pin icd/ide male to female cable - where to get?

HI, I'm trying to locate 2 x 50 pin idc extension cables. They are the same as the ribbon cable computers use to connect ide drives, except the computer ones are female to female and I need female to male. I can't locate any anywhere on the net including o.s. Even a female to male adapter would do. My console uses them and I need a couple to troubleshoot a module while it is out of the console. If anyone knows where to get some or even knows anybody that makes cables I could pay to do it please post it here.

IDE is 40 pins, old SCSI was 50 :)

If it's IDE you're after I doubt you'll have much luck as the IDE spec calls for short cables, so the call for gender change (like extension leads) is minimal.
However, you may be able to butcher the male connector off an old hard drive or motherboard with long enough pins on the reverse side to make an adapter.

I have a bunch of old drives and motherboards lying around, if you like I can butcher one and see if it's doable.

Yeah sorry, it was internal scsi2 that it was used for I think. It's definately 50 pin. I'm surprised by how hard they are to find, but I guess the female to female is the standard. Thanks for the offer Kurt but I'll keep looking for the moment, maybe if I can even find some male connectors that crimp on and make my own.

Thanks, gotta love Jaycar (my brother does for sure), they seem to have stuff some others don't. I found a 40 pin dual inline jumper that may work for connecting 2 females together. They're snap apart so maybe I could piece 50 together. Or I could just get a female connector and the one you suggested and make 100 solder connections. I't starting to look like the best way. Ain't it always the way? I chucked about 3 of these away in the pre-Christmas clean up - one of those "these are no good to anybody any more" moments. Sorry, my friend.

Ahaaaa. You mean you've actually seen some? I was starting to think they don't exist. I'll keep hunting for a few days then I will no doubt give in and solder up some myself. Still like to hear if anyone knows where to get some made.
