12 key midi keyboard... nothing smaller than 25 key

I really want a very small midi keyboard. Just 12 keys (well ideally I'd like 6, but 12 would be great too).
There are non on the market commercially. I can't find anywhere that makes custom made ones.
I was wondering what people thought of the possibility of buying a cheap 25 key midi keyboard and hacking it down to 12 keys including rehousing it nearly.
Any chance anyone here has done something simiiar-sh or has any thoughts on it?
