New Melbourne Vinyl Pressing Plant

Postby Chris H » Tue May 19, 2020 1:58 pm

This is an automatic "record pressing machine". In a couple weeks there will be an official announcement of the opening of PROGRAM RECORDS. A brand new record pressing business in Melbourne. Gill Mathews is involved in this move. Gill has been re releasing Oz Rock classics on vinyl on his label Aztec Records and this is his go at establishing a local pressing plant thats cost competitive with OS options. The press is an overseas invention. [info from Gill's Facebook page as I have no other info]

Program Records is pleased to announce plans to open Australia’s first modern vinyl pressing plant in over 30 years.

The company will focus on supporting the local music scene backed by a data driven and highly efficient production facility.

The purpose built factory will install state of the art WarmTone presses made by Viryltech in Toronto, along with a new plating / stamper making system + experienced mastering and lacquer cutting.

Program Records Steve Lynch said, “We want to make great records, support the Australian music scene and have fun along the way.”

Opening planned for 2020

I’ve got three records currently being pressed with them, a free jazz Electronica, a Hiphop/bebop hybrid, and a more conventional jazz quintet. Very much looking forward to hearing the results.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts as well, accepting of course, the need for some discretion in these public discussions.
