Hi there,
I just wanted to say (after reading another post) that the Steely Dan show last night at Brisbane Entertainment Centre was absolutely first class and received three standing ovations from the very large crowd.
The drummer really stole the show... he was phenomenal, the bass player was shit hot, the hornz were absolutely tight, the backing singers (especially the black one) were spunks. The guitarist could play all the licks, but lent his own interpretation to many songs and the second keyboard player had great hammond chops(i should know ;-)
Donald and Walter were much more animated than I anticipated.
They threw different arrangements together and all the playing was super tight and accurate.
Fagan, talking about AJA said * we'll trying and play this one !* and it was truly superb.
A unique bunch of songs....and that is what Steely Dan is about ..the music.
There are no tricks, no video screens, minimal light show...its just about the music...and that music changed my life !
Cheers

I have their last live DVD recorded in NYC and it's tight, funky and the musicianship is stellar.
I'm hoping to see them in Sydney, but havent yet got tickets..
Been a fan since for a long time.. would be a shame to miss them...

Awesome bring on Thur night in Melb.
I have seen Ready Freddie Washinton before on bass, he played on the Michael Jackson History Tour. He also did a killer SWR bass amp clinic (pity about the gear) but he had a DAT tape minus bass of the original Patrice Rushen track 'Forget Me Nots' which he played on and a few other tracks.
And Keith Carlock (drums) is amazing, and i'm sure the rest of the band will be more than ok.
