Hey
I went Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds last night at Acer Arena.
Never been to Acer before but what an awesome show.
Sound was pretty good which included surround sound from a line array system (which I guess is normal these days!!)
Band was SMOKING and the 40 piece orchestra was fabulous.
Did anyone else go?
I used to have the original soundtrack on double cassette (which I unfortunately tossed out when I last moved house). Have to get it again!!
I hadn't heard the music for well over 12-15years and it was still great.
Comments??

I went to the Melbourne Show last friday, It was all pretty good, Even Shannon noll did a reasonable job, much better than I expected.

but for me the fact that the drummer was using Vdrums and even v cymbals was a bit of a let down, I understand stage volumes and all that, but damm those drums sounded plastic. especially in the context of the warmth and vibe of the original album drum sounds.

There were a few sound problems, but no show stoppers. it was also a bit quiet, and a bit digital if you know what I mean.

great seeing Justin Heywood and Chris Thompson, also Herbie Flowers and Chris Spedding all original players from the album itself.

I couldn't see the kit but it did sound a bit 'unreal' - as in not real sounding drums..
I thought the drums sounded a little muddy and boomy at times also.
No real sound issues in Syd - overall I thought it sounded pretty good.
SN sounded ok too, which surprised me - considering my partner dated him many years ago (she was a Condo girl)
Overall, a great and enjoyable show..
