Postby PRINCETOWN » Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:17 pm

any clues regarding melting polyester resin ?i have stuffed gain cells out of an OPTRO 303 COMPRESSOR (Australian vintage ,there are no schematics available) Also other electronic bits and pieces that are encased in the stuff, untill the resin is removed the values of these components remain a mystery, any help greatly appreciated

These are a two part resin for which, as far as I know, there is no solvent. The best you are going to do is to get a Dremel tool or similar with a deburring type bit and carefully drill away the resin to reveal the underlying components. Even then, I'm not sure that you will be able to read resistor values, transistor types etc. Try contacting Graeme Thirkell for circuit info.

Hi Tony,

I'm sorry to hear that. Not quite sure what to suggest next - it depends a bit on how much you want to throw at this.

isopar m or q sometimes works (some times)but be careful with the stuff its dangerous in the wrong hands

it also breaks down the bread board turning it into jelly if you use to much and the inuslation on the windings of transformers and any thing plastic it also gives you wicked dermatitise if you get even a drop on youre skin that dosent go away so chemical gloves etc

a chemical company called redox can tell you who sells it to the public
