I just don't get it. I saw a used Tube-Tech PE-1C with no manuals or box go for US$3,050 plus US$102.10 postage. Incredible when you can get a brand new one from Sweetwater for US$2,310, it's bidding gone crazy.

Yes...hmmm.. there is a Pultec EQH2 on US ebay at the moment. It's at $3600 US and the reserve has not been met yet! I don't care how good the paintwork is, you can buy them for $2500 US serviced from Vintage King.
Ebay can be crazy. Then again I have gotten some real steal from there as well. Bought a vintage LA3A real cheap just before Christmas. Got a Moog parametric few months earlier at an absolute steal. Aus Ebay should really be called be!@#$%^& Bay though. I check listings most days, but mainly for entertainment purposes. Some auctions can be like watching a car crash. Horrible, but you can't stop watching.

Exactly....it can be a horror story, another thing is, will it be in working order when and if it gets into your hands.

Yeah but if you're vigilant there can be some serious deals to be had. I have bought to Gretsch guitars from ebay USA for 2 to 3 thousand less than they are here. Even if I sell them at less than half price later on I am still way in front.

At least that's the way I justify it to my wife.

I have also bought some bargins on eBay but at least I knew they were going for a cheaper than new price. Don't these people do some sort of investigation on the product they are purchasing, I thought saving money was a good step in the right direction.

That is crazy. A mate of mine bought the exact same EQ a couple of months ago, US$1150 buy it now.

I often wonder how infested ebay is with shill bidding too. I suspect it happens alot more than most people realise.

I have sold some items lately on ebay, at starting prices as low as $30.00, and would have been happy to get $60.00. I have watched in quiet horror as the bidding on a couple of them hit $300 plus, I was almost too embarrased to take their money, but I did put super clear descriptions and photos so I guess people must know what they want.

I admit I am an ebay addict. However it is the one place over a period of time I can find the most obscure items. Ebay is like any other auction in that you need to know your values before bidding. Most of my top end gear has come thru or on ebay. Where else can you buy a Teladi microphone or a pair of U47. There is not a dealer in the world who can offer the choice of stock that ebay can. Yes there are downsides to this market place, but there is nothing else like it. Ebay has single handed brought the market place closer to being a world market and not just a local market with its consequential distorted price structures. That said.....I love it. Regards Norm

I must admit that I am the same (bit of an EBay addict that is!!).
We use Ebay alot for selling items - kids clothes, toys, furniture, etc. and I use it to look for gear as well.
I would check in at least once a day (unless I'm selling stuff).
I kitted out my whole pro guitar rig off Ebay several yrs ago and saved an absolute fortune.
I also used it to sell gear as well and I've never had any problems.
Its also good to check out going prices for certain things..
