Just being nosy - I noticed that on the American Peluso website it says this:

Australia Please Note:
Peluso Microphone Lab is not and never has been affiliated with any Australian company.
Peluso Microphone Lab no longer has an Australian distributor.
The only way to purchase our Peluso products and service in Australia is to contact us directly at Peluso Microphone Lab .

Now there used to be (until quite recently) a Peluso Microphone Labs website

But now that site seems to be dead...

I was also paid a visit recently by the guy who ran that website (Ben?) who was also talking about remanufacturing Pultecs... I was interested because I recently bought a pair of Mercury EQP1's.

He seemed like a nice enough bloke, who also sold me a shockmount and new tube for my C37a.

Does anyone know what the deal is here???

One could suspect that 1) the local guy was using that name without Peluso's approval or 2) there was a falling out and Peluso is making sure there's no misunderstanding as to the current "state of the nation".................Peluso's first point makes me favour #1.

A mate of mine told me there was a guy offering demos of the peluso mics about a year or so back. He had him demo some mics for him and he was very impressed. I think he said something about the guy being a distributor in Aust.

I dealt with Ben to get a shockmount and as was very helpful with service and also info on mics.

I think he has stopped doing the studio and has now gone into manufacturing his own pres (see MusicLab ads in AT) At one stage he was the distributor for Peluso...that has obviously now ended.

i know enough about this to know that ben lurks around this site
he certainly did have an arrangement with peluso ,
looks like he doesnt anymore ...

I own a couple of peluso mics that ben sold me. he actually rang me today and gave me the lowdown on what's happened between him and peluso. It's probably not appropriate for me to repeat that conversation here. however i'm sure that if anyone on this forum owns some peluso mics and is curious/concerned about it (as i was) then they should give him a call

Ben has now moved from the studio to Collins creek, near Lismore. Peluso was being distributed by Musiclab, don't know if they still are. Ben has just put a new original transformer into my U47, after restoring the capsule a while ago, when he was (is?) a Peluso man. Excellent workmanship, good German parts contacts (VF14's, capsules, oil-paper caps, God knows what else), very helpful, seems to be well set up, can restore most mics, apparently (still trying to get my friend to send him his Sankens). Thoroughly trustworthy and recommended.
