yo dudes


just wondering....is anyone out there using dbx120's??

im lookin for an alternative for waves RBass...i love that plug, but i seem to always f&#k it up when i use it, lol....

wondering if anyone knows if those dbx's are where its at in regards to bass? or if there;s somethin newer/better???

I think you noticed last time you were here that the Buzz Essence is the only thing left in my lunchbox, I kept it just for bass only, pretty much.

Though the API 2500 does a fine job as well. If this is the project you were going to do at my place don't worry about Rbass or the DBX.

If it's a different project then you could use the Essence for a small fee or hire Nic's MC77, which would be my choice.

The dbx, dunno mate been a while since I used 1.

more for sound design, electronic, dance and hiphop


also for bassing upmy own sources for obscure drum samples

i use a modified one for mastering nearly every day nothing else even comes close to doing what it does

Yeah busy arvo. Been thinking for a while about subharmonic too for the drums in the hiphop I was doing. Never got around to it though, but am interested to find out a bit more about them and also what Rick had done with his too.

a good friend of mine dose a lot of hip hop in the states and swears by an old dead ringer ult6ra bass1 or s1uper b%ass or some thing of that nature

but i think its the older model im not sure
it may be worth cheaking out

hiphop is the king of dodginess, like be!@#$%^& and what not....so, that doesnt surprise me, heck, i even expect it, hehehehe :P

Probably the same circuit manufactured on the cheap ;)

probably not.....for the price of a vintage be!@#$%^&...if 1 found that stuff..., i can get a new dbx120A...
