Cleaning P&G Faders

Hi everyone,
I have a DDA DMR12 console with Penny and Giles faders and some of them are getting scratchy. Especially the main 2 mix out. Would anyone be able to give me the best way of cleaning these faders. If there are any products that would be suitable. I heard that you can can wash them with warm water. THIS SEEMS PRETTY EXTREME. Could this be true?

Talk to a user called Jason in Brisbane as they have a DDA desk and they just cleaned up the channel faders recently.

DON'T USE HOT WATER!! Did your mum tell you to do this? Especially with something as expensive as P&G, use ONLY a dedicated fader spray, the best being Caig "Cailube". Don't use switch contact cleaner, either. The importer:

Depending on the model the manufacturer recommends using distilled water on the tracks. Check the link for a pdf about cleaning p&g faders.

Maybe Otto could chime in here, from memory the way to do it is to dismantle the fader, give the track a wipe with a soft wated dampened cloth to remove any water soluble contaminants, then wipe with a soft cloth slightly moistened with alcohol to remove any water and any oily contaminants. I was advised never to put any sprays or contact treatments on them, simply to clean the tracks as I just described.

We are in the middle of fixing a DDA console at the moment and this is what we were told.

you could actually ask P & G or ring their local australian agent "control devices ", i know what he is going to say so i suggest you hear it directly from them .
that is the ONLY advice i would follow .
i will never hear the end of it if offer advice even the slightest bit off course with p&g so call Rick Dahl at Control devices Sydney he will solve your problem in thirty secs
