is there a pont in the signal chain where we can go without MSG ?? - I mean ... surely I can patch an ampex type line amp, gain block , Neve BA823,
Pultec, API - through a boss distortion pedal - througha marshall miced' with a DPA / schoeps for that neutral sound.

gotta admit - i'm thinking of my 1/4" mixdown deck and the sound i get off it.
and that isn't $6k usd.
