Recently I had the use of a HHB Portadrive, which had the (mandatory, please!) option of digital inputs. Now, after long searches, I can't find a portable recorder with the digital input option, among the class of Sound Devices units, et al.
Every other goodie and option but this is available, its even on some cheaper units, but not the pro ones, it seems

Yes, this is what I mean when I say the 'cheaper' recorders offer it (though the Edirol is not what I'd call cheap, I'd tend to say 'overpriced', but I'm biased against it), whereas from here on up, it can't seem to be found, except of course, in non-portable gear.
